What is CIALIS and for what is it used?
CIALIS comes as light yellow film-coated tablets. They are almond shaped and marked C 10 on one side. These tablets are available in strip packs that contain 2 tablets.
CIALIS is for the treatment of men with erectile dysfunction. This is when a man can not get erect or not long enough to maintain an erection for successful sexual intercourse.
CIALIS belongs to the group of fosfodiesterase-inhibitors type 5. After sexual stimulation, CIALIS helps relax the blood vessels in the penis allowing blood to flow in your penis. This results in an improvement of your erection. CIALIS does not work if you don't have an erectile dysfunction.
It is important to note that CIALIS does not work in the absence of a sexual stimulus. You and your partner should know that foreplay is needed, just as you would do if you weren't using a medicine for your erectile dysfunction
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE YOU TAKE CIALIS
- If you use medicines that contain organic nitrates or release nitric oxide, such as Amyl nitrites. These medicines are used to treat angina pectoris (chest pain). CIALIS showed that the effects of these drugs were strengthened. Tell your doctor if you use a drug that contains nitrates, or if you are unsure of this.
- If you have serious heart problems or have recently had a heart attack.
- If you recently have had a stroke.
- If you have low blood pressure or high blood pressure which isn't under control.
- If you are hypersensitive (allergic) to tadalafil or any of the other ingredients of CIALIS.
Take special care with CIALIS:
Sexual activity is a potential risk for patients with heart problems because it requires extra effort of your heart. If you have heart affection, you should tell your doctor.
Below are reasons why CIALIS can be not suitable for you. Tell your doctor if any of these reasons apply to you before you use this medicine:
- If you have sickle cell anemia (a deviation of the red blood cells), leukemia (blood cell cancer), multiple myeloma (bone marrow cancer) or if you have a disease or deformity of your penis.
- You have severe liver or kidney problems.
- You have ever had partial, sudden, temporary or permanent reduction of vision in one or both eyes.
Use of CIALIS with other medicines:
In general, your doctor or pharmacist has to inform you when you use medicines or have recently used medicines because they can affect each other. This is especially important if you use nitrates because you may not use CIALIS if you use these drugs. A certain medicine is an alpha-blocker that is sometimes used for high blood pressure and to cure an enlarged prostate. Tell your doctor if you are being treated for one of these two disorders. Don't use CIALIS together with other medicines if your doctor says you shouldn't do it
You should not use CIALIS together with other medicines for the treatment of erectile dysfunction.
CIALIS is not intended for use by women or children under 18 years.
Driving and the usage of machines:
Because dizziness has been reported in men who have used CIALIS in medical studies, you should be aware of your response to CIALIS before you drive or operate machinery.
Information for men who can't tolerate lactose, one of the auxiliary matters of CIALIS.
CIALIS contains lactose and should not be used by patients with rare hereditary problems of galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency or impaired absorption of glucose-galactose.
HOW TO TAKE CIALIS PROPERLY
Follow the instructions of your doctor precisely while taking CIALIS. When in doubt, contact your doctor or your pharmacist.
The usual dose is one 10 mg tablet before the sexual activity. If the effect of this dose is too low, your doctor can increase the dose to 20 mg. CIALIS tablets should be taken by mouth. Swallow the tablet in one piece with water. You can take CIALIS with or without food.
You can take a CIALIS tablet at least 30 minutes before sexual activity. CIALIS could still be effective after 36 hours. It is important to note that CIALIS does not work if there is no sexual arousal.
Drinking alcohol can affect the chance to get an erection. Drinking alcohol can temporarily lower your blood pressure. If you have taken CIALIS, or if you are planning to take CIALIS, avoid excessive drinking (alcohollevel of 0.08% or higher), since the risk of dizziness when standing up can be intensified.
You can't take CIALIS more than once a day. Continuous daily use of CIALIS for more than a few days is strongly discouraged, because the safety of long-term daily use has not been established and because the effect of CIALIS usually persists longer than a day.
When you have taken more CIALIS then what is prescripted:
Contact your doctor.
POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS
Like all medicines CIALIS can have side effects. These effects are usually mild to moderate in nature. The most common side effects are headache and a disordered digestion. Less frequently reported side effects are back pain, muscle pain, nasal congestion, blushing of the face and dizziness. Swollen eyelids, eye pain and red eyes are sometimes reported. If you have any of these side effects and if these are serious or if they do not disappear, please contact your doctor.

If you get chest pain during or after a sexual activity you should not use nitrates and immediately ask for medical help. If you notice any side effects not listed in this leaflet, inform your doctor or pharmacist.
Heart attack, strokes and an irregular heartbeat are rarely reported with men who have used CIALIS. Most, but not all men were aware of heart problems before taking the drug. It is not possible to determine whether these effects are directly related to the use of CIALIS. Partial, sudden, temporary or permanent reduction of sight in one capacity or both eyes has been reported.
With one animal specie effects were seen who could possible indicate deterioration of fertility. Following studies with humans suggest that this effect is unlikely with humans.
